On December 11th and 12th, the international conference Euroforum, will be held in Munich, Germany. Once again, for the third consecutive edition, SiriusCon went too fast! EclipseCon Europe 2017 is already over... It's again a successful edition that has just finished! As the latest editions, the Eclipse Foundation gathered more than 600 attendees from several open source communities, and we were part of the modeling one. On October 3rd, Thales and Obeo were gathered in a shared booth at the TNO-ESI Symposium 2017 in Eindhoven.   The TNO-ESI Symposium is a one day free event, dedicated to the managing complexity in embedded systems engineering. More than 500 attendees were gathered in this successful 2017 edition.   At the innovation market, Thales and Obeo presented their collaboration that connect them since 10 years, particularly via the Open Source solution Capella. This solution is a comprehensive tool of Model-Based Systems Engineering integrating a tool-based methodology, Arcadia. Facing increasing software complexity of Spacecraft On-board Software, European Space Agency (ESA) initiated the OSRA methodology (On-board Software Reference Architecture) to model the hardware and the software components, and to define the allocation of these components on the hardware.   ESA needed a solution to rapidly support this approach while Ecore, a tool based on Eclipse Sirius, emerged as the most appropriated one. The first line of code of the technology actually known as Sirius was written 10 years ago. The legend says that the first version was developed in a train, back from a meeting between Thales and Obeo that will result in a long-term partnership on graphical modeling. One day later, a first metamodel, then named ViewPoint, was born:   In 2010, while a first version was already deployed on Thales projects, Sirius technology was publicly released for the first time under the name of Obeo Designer.   Several years later, in 2013, the decision was made with Thales to contribute this technology as an Open Source project in Eclipse.
