EclipseCon Europe 2017 is already over... It's again a successful edition that has just finished!
As the latest editions, the Eclipse Foundation gathered more than 600 attendees from several open source communities, and we were part of the modeling one.
At Ludwisburg, we had a busy schedule with 5 talks and a booth at the innovation market. And we came back really happy since we received several positive feedback about Eclipse Sirius & Eclipse Xtext, two model editors. A white paper has been just published about this attractive topic. Do not hesitate to read it.
We also presented for the very first time M2Doc 1.0, the open source solution to generate documents from models. Get a better overview of M2Doc with this short video.
And we were already there to the Modeling Guided Tour Day at the Unconference, a conference fully dedicated to the major components and projects of Eclipse Modeling project and the communities behind them.
Now, next step for the modeli...

From October 24th to 26th, we will have the pleasure to attend once again EclipseCon Europe in Ludwigsburg, Germany!
This main event for the Eclipse community is the opportunity to discover and share the latest innovations about this open source platform. This year, Obeo will be well represented with 6 of its members being in Germany to present their technologies’ features. Most of them are committers on several Eclipse projects (among which Sirius, EMF Compare, Acceleo, Ecore Tools…).
As we can see on the program, EclipseCon Europe 2017 includes many attractive talks. Here are those presented by Obeo:
All about UX in Sirius, at Bürgersaal 2, on Tuesday 24th, from 14:30 to 15:05, by Mélanie Bats (Obeo) & Stéphane Bégaudeau (Obeo)
Integrating Xtext and Sirius: Strategies and Pitfalls, at the Theater, on Wednesday 25th, from 12:00 to 12:35, by Cédric Brun (Obeo) & Jan Koehnlein (TypeFox)
Live Collaboration on Graphical Models: Sirius Integrat...
Facing increasing software complexity of Spacecraft On-board Software, European Space Agency (ESA) initiated the OSRA methodology (On-board Software Reference Architecture) to model the hardware and the software components, and to define the allocation of these components on the hardware.
ESA needed a solution to rapidly support this approach while Ecore, a tool based on Eclipse Sirius, emerged as the most appropriated one. Obeo came in to improve the modeler from an initial prototype to a fully functional and user friendly modeling solution.
Thanks to the improvement of its overall usability, the modeling solution supporting OSRA is now considered to be ready for distribution to European space industry!

On September 22th, Maxime Porhel (Obeo) was pleased to attend EclipseDay Milano in Italy!
This conference is a signifiant event of the Eclipse community in Italy. It allows to learn, explore, share and collaborate on the latest ideas and informations about Eclipse and its Ecosystem.
It gathers great speakers, ready to present the latest innovations gravitating the Eclipse Working Groups and the technologies like RCP, IoT, Cloud, EMF, Modeling, and much more…
Maxime was part of these great speakers to present his talk: “All about UX in Sirius” on the Eclipse Sirius 5.0 new features. For example, it can improve the modeling tools with customized dialog boxes allowing a smoother user experience.
If you missed this attractive talk, you will have another chance to see it at EclipseCon Europe in Ludwigsburg (Germany), from October 23th to 25th.

On October 3rd, Thales and Obeo will be gathered in a shared booth at the TNO-ESI Symposium 2017 in Eindhoven, to talk about their collaboration that connect them since 10 years, particularly via the Open Source solution Capella: the success story of a cooperation between a multinational as Thales and an ambitious SME creating open and innovative softwares as Obeo.
This solution is a comprehensive tool of Model-Based Systems Engineering integrating a tool-based methodology, Arcadia. Developed by Thales with the support of Obeo, Capella combines the opening and the simpleness of a ready to use solution. No need to be an industrial expert to use it.
The TNO-ESI Symposium is a one day free event, dedicated to the managing complexity in embedded systems engineering. It will include 2 key-notes, several talks, and an innovation market where Thales & Obeo will present some Capella demos:
