On September 22th, Maxime Porhel (Obeo) was pleased to attend EclipseDay Milano in Italy!   This conference is a signifiant event of the Eclipse community in Italy. It allows to learn, explore, share and collaborate on the latest ideas and informations about Eclipse and its Ecosystem.   It gathers great speakers, ready to present the latest innovations gravitating the Eclipse Working Groups and the technologies like RCP, IoT, Cloud, EMF, Modeling, and much more…   Maxime was part of these great speakers to present his talk: “All about UX in Sirius” on the Eclipse Sirius 5.0 new features. For example, it can improve the modeling tools with customized dialog boxes allowing a smoother user experience.     If you missed this attractive talk, you will have another chance to see it at EclipseCon Europe in Ludwigsburg (Germany), from October 23th to 25th.   Pascal Roques (PRFC) was also in Milano to present Capella, the Open Source solution for Model...

Over the course of its 11 years, a new chapter opens in a story narrating Obeo's independance and growth with the creation of a subsidiary in Vancouver. This is an exciting time for our company that has continually developed since the beginning. With more than 20% of our activity made abroad, being located in Canada will necessarily speed up our international development. This ambitious project will foster the distribution of our open software solutions in North America. These solutions allow our customers to create and transform complex systems: industrial systems (aeronautics, spatial, defence, energy, transport …) information systems of big companies We notably aim to exploite the potential of Capella on the systems engineering market. This Open Source solution to design systems with strong technological challenges (satellites, planes, intelligent cars…) was originally developed by Thales with the support of Obeo ; as part of a col...

The first line of code of the technology actually known as Sirius was written 10 years ago. The legend says that the first version was developed in a train, back from a meeting between Thales and Obeo that will result in a long-term partnership on graphical modeling. One day later, a first metamodel, then named ViewPoint, was born:   In 2010, while a first version was already deployed on Thales projects, Sirius technology was publicly released for the first time under the name of Obeo Designer.   Several years later, in 2013, the decision was made with Thales to contribute this technology as an Open Source project in Eclipse. Our main objective was to foster the adoption of this great component and make it the de-facto standard for graphical modeling in Eclipse. Since then, Sirius is part of the annual release train of the Eclipse platform and has gathered a vibrant community.   What’s up today?   Eclipse Sirius is a field-pr...

On November 9th will start the 3rd edition of SiriusCon Paris. Looking back at the last editions, we remember that both were almost full, that attendees (and us!) learnt a lot from the great speakers’ talks, and that SiriusCon was and will always be a friendly event gathering the graphical modeling community in one of the most beautiful city in the world (yes...you know French people sometimes lack of humility when talking about Paris but except that part, each of these observations is objective). Well, this is a big responsibility and we are working hard to make the 2017 SiriusCon edition even better!   If you haven’t already heard about SiriusCon, just to explain it in a few words, it’s a one-day free international conference dedicated to graphical modeling and more precisely to Eclipse Sirius, the best solution to get your own modeling tool. We think it as a milestone event for every attendees, from beginners to advanced graphical modeling users. Have a look of what Siri...

From Monday the 17th to Thursday the 20th, Thales, pure-systems and Obeo attended the 27th annual Incose International Symposium in Adélaïde, Australia. On our booth, during our exhibitor demo and at a dedicated talk, we had the opportunity to present Capella, the model-based systems engineering solution. Indeed, Thales and Obeo combined their expertise to develop and deploy this tool helping engineers formalizing the specification of systems and master their architectural design. And results speak by themselves: Capella is already used on concrete projects in numerous industrial sectors (aerospace, energy, transportation…). Learn more about how Capella is different and can be really useful with those case-studies from prestigious users. Incose was the best place to share our experience and to have exciting discussions about the last Systems Engineering tools innovation among which of course Capella, the comprehensive, extensible and field-proven tools of Arcadia. Have a look of w...
