We were so glad to be able to represent Capella at INCOSE IS 2021, along with Thales. It was a great opportunity to learn more on Capella & MBSE and get real insider tips and knowledge.

A value-driven, integrated approach to Model-Based Product Line Engineering

Next week, Thales presented their talk on the 19th at 12:30 to 13:10 EDT “A value-driven, integrated approach to Model-Based Product Line Engineering” Pushed to the edge of their capabilities in a highly competitive world market, organizations everywhere look for efficient means to innovate and develop their products and services.

This paper proposed and illustrated a holistic integration of Product Line Engineering (PLE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to connect and align market and business analysis, architecting, design, and engineering. This value-driven, integrated approach capitalizes on MBSE best practices to tackle the concrete challenges of product line engineering.

Presented by Juan Navas, Jean-luc Voirin, Stéphane Bonnet & Hugo Guillermo Chale Gongora, this was a great opportunity to learn from Capella and MBSE experts.

Improving MBSE maturity with open-source tool Capella

Stéphane Lacrampes talk on the 21st at 16:45 EDT, presented “Improving MBSE maturity with open-source tool Capella” MBSE aims at transitioning the Systems Engineering practice from a document-centric approach to a model-centric approach. It is envisioned to be the next shift enhancing significantly our systems engineering capacities, in order to cope with the steadily growing systems' complexity. Although MBSE has been a trending topic over the last few years, its adoption among systems engineers is still growing slowly.

Stéphane introduced some of the challenges in MBSE adoption and explained how the Arcadia method and the Capella tool are enablers for accelerating MBSE adoption among the systems engineering community.

What if we’re (really) doing MBSE ?

MBSE is clearly a major trend in systems engineering. However, its adoption has long been limited to a vain wish. Fortunately, over the last few years, Capella has gradually established itself as a reference tool by adopting a pragmatic and useful approach for operational projects.

In this presentation, Samuel presented a big picture of the Capella MBSE solution. Beyond the tooling aspects, he addressed the underlying methodology, Arcadia, and its applications as well as the topics of operational deployments and the Capella community as a whole.

We had a great time at this years edition of INCOSE IS, and we hope you had a good time too! It was a great opportunity to learn from Capella & MBSE experts through insightful presentations & case-studies.
